Clear APK files from the Firestick
FAQs
Over time, all streaming devices build up cache, cookies, junk files, error logs etc... (you get the picture) Maintenance is a must and recommended you do it at least ones every month.
Maintenance consists of 5 main steps, you could do all or some, depends on your usage and device. If you follow all steps in order, 99% of the time all problems get resolved.
5 STEPS:
Switch off your device and router both from the mains for 10 mins.
Uninstall all unused apps
Delete all apk files from downloader/download folder.
Clear cache on ALL apps
Update software

STEP 1: Switch off your firestick and router both from the mains for 10 minutes.
REASON: This will permanently delete the cache, change your ip address and speed up your internet. This step fixes issues 9 times out of 10
STEP 2. How to uninstall apps
Go to: > Settings > Applications > Managed installed applications Scroll down and click on EACH APP you don't want and click on uninstall.
REASON: Apps take up memory and usage in the background, so there's no need to keep apps that you don't use.
STEP 3 Delete all apk files from downloader.
Open Downloader app and you will see a menu list on the left hand side.
Click on "Files" and delete anything and everything inside it.
REASON: Once you download an app and install it, your device saves the apk file as a backup after you install the app. There's no need to keep the file, so delete it to save memory.
STEP 4: Clearing cache. Go to: *Settings *Applications *Managed installed applications Scroll down and click on EACH APP and click "clear cache" Note: Do not click on clear data.
REASON: To long to explain but cache build up can mess with app and channels, so delete.
STEP 5. How to update software on fire TV Go to: Settings My Fire TV About Scroll down to check updates
REASON: Lots of apps will not work properly if your software is out of date
These 5 steps will keep your device running smoothly for years. It is also recommended to do a factory reset after a year. This will clear out any errors and reset your device to default.
If you are having buffering issue try these quick steps first.
Turn off your router for 5 minutes and restart
Restart your Firestick or Android device
Check your internet speed on the firestick; on Swirl, FireTV or NOWxc, go to settings then speed test. You want at least 12mbps
Check if you have enough free memory on your device. You want at least 1GB free memory

If you are experiencing buffering, preform a quick speed test on your device using either our NOWxc, FireTV or Swirl Media apps.
Go to settings within the apps, click on speed test. You want to be receiving at least 20mbps download speed.
Some router settings can play havoc with your devices and streaming.
Delete the old app:
In Firestick go to Settings then Applications and then Manage Installed Applications. Scroll to the application you want to delete and select that App. Click on clear cache, clear data then Uninstall.
Exit back to Firestick home page
Download new version of app:
Open the Downloader app, type in 87328
Select and install the app you want to upgrade to.
